Marketa Zubkova comes from the Czech Republic and is an advocate, educator, and consultant. She is dedicated to helping immigrants and encouraging understanding and respect between cultures. Her past and current jobs—as an English teacher, researcher, Spanish lecturer, interpreter, community advocate, and legal representative—led her to join Juntos por Gunnison.

For her commitment to social justice and immigrant integration, the City of Gunnison proclaimed February 27, 2024, as Marketa Zubkova Day. She also serves on the boards of the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking and the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley.

Marketa speaks Czech, Spanish, and English. She uses her language skills and cross-cultural insight to connect people and help create a more welcoming community.
